Who We Are
We
are a people determined to follow the Bible to the very best of our ability. We
want nothing older than the Old Testament, or newer than the New. We are not
perfect in our knowledge and application of the Bible, but we are willing to
give scriptural authority for everything we teach and practice, or give it up.
We
have an active program of teaching for toddlers to senior citizens, but it is
just teaching. We stay away from turning Bible School into a social
organization. The teachers who are part of this work at this congregation spend
many hours preparing lessons, classrooms, and personally advancing in teaching
skills. We provide a class for every age.
Our
classes begin Sunday morning at 9:30. We have the same arrangement of classes on
Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Our worship is not ornate or complicated. We meet on the
first day of the week to “break bread,” the sacred memorial feast
remembering the death of Jesus, our Lord (Acts 20:7; 1 Cor. 11:23-27). Since
every week has a first day, we do this every Sunday.
We
honor God in our teaching and praise. We pray together and study his sacred
word. We do this because that is what we understand was done when the church
first came into existence (Acts 2:42).
Our
collective work is primarily focused on evangelism. We believe this is why the
Lord established his church (Matt. 16:18; 1 Thess. 1:7-8; Phil. 2:14-15; 1 Tim.
3:16). We urge you to read each of these passages.
When
there is a need to provide for the physical needs of the members of this
congregation, we do so (Acts 2:44-46; 4:34-35; Acts 6:1-6).
If
you happen to be in our area visiting, please come meet with us. If you are
moving into the Fort Knox, Kentucky area, we hope you will come to our meetings.
