The Collection Plate

If Jesus passed the collection plate I wonder what I would do.
Would I drop in my usual dollar, or more than just a few?
I don't think Jesus would understand if He were on earth today.
We just "had to have a new car," and so many other accounts to pay.
This business of paying for carrying the gospel I know that it costs, don't you see?
But we have some rich folks in the congregation, Why should Jesus want money from me?
Jesus won't be passing the collection plate, But He may be watching with grief.
When I hold back what is really the Lord's I am nothing but a thief!
